Ecogreenunit Foundation Showcases Innovative Rural Development Projects

Ecogreenunit Foundation, Coimbatore, participated in a seminar conducted by FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) and UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) at Surat, Gujarat, where a guest lecture was delivered on the organisation’s innovative projects promoting sustainable livelihoods, rural entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability.

The lecture highlighted Ecogreenunit’s initiatives in natural farming, microgreens cultivation, herbal cultivation, banana fibre extraction and handicrafts, areca leaf products, biochar production, and waste-to-wealth technologies. These initiatives demonstrate how locally available natural resources and agricultural residues can be converted into valuable products, creating employment and income-generating opportunities, particularly for women, farmers, and rural communities.

The session also emphasised the importance of skill development, women’s empowerment, circular economy practices, and eco-friendly technologies in building sustainable rural enterprises. Ecogreenunit shared its practical experience in training aspiring entrepreneurs and promoting green business models that combine economic development with environmental responsibility.
